Tayane Porfirio Leaves Lasting Impression After Week Long Stay
Tayane Porfirio was on the mats with us for a week in August. Tayane, based in London, England, is one of the most decorated women of all time in Jiu Jitsu. She has won World Championships, Grand Slammed in IBJJF, medaled at ADCC, and won the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi World Pro. She was out of competition for a few years, and is returning now with hope to retake her crown as the Queen of Women’s Jiu Jitsu.
During her week at R. E. Training Center, Tayane taught our kids, fundamentals, and competition classes. She also gave a number of private classes to kids and adults. Her high-energy style matched with her persistence left a lasting impression on many of our students. They came away with aggressive take down entries, clean guard openings, and firm posture and control.
The week later we saw her at Jiu Jitsu Con and World Masters where she won her weight class, closed out for 3rd place in Open Class, and won Open Class in Jiu Jitsu con NoGi. We are excited to see what she will do in the coming years, and hope she will be back soon.
